Strikingly inventive live outfit Django Django‘s eponymous debut album was released today by French label Because Music. Half the quartet have Scottish roots (Edinburgh/Fife), they met at Edinburgh College of Art and, although various attempts were made over the last few years to book them for either a Limbo or Trouble night, it never quite came to be. Now they’re winning fans across the board. And rightly so. Their original style is extremely hard to pin down, but it’s safe to say Django Django have a good understanding of rhythm and recognise a decent groove when they hear one, as well as having a number of catchy tunes up their sleeves, such as this one (unintentionally absent from my 2011 Killers), a current personal favourite (and also their first single), Waveforms. A future anthem for sure.
