Com Truise, Galactic Melt

Not since the emergence of Neon Indian’s Psychic Chasms album in late 2009 (and, way before that, Boards Of Canada) has someone grabbed the woozy atmospherics of early Eighties analogue synths and transported them to a parallel dimension in such a dizzyingly effective way.   However, where Texas native Alan Palomo imbues the Neon Indian sound with some impressive song-writing skills and vocal interplay for his own lysergic pop hooks, New Jersey’s Seth Haley largely eschews any real songs for a voyage of intergalactic discovery that’s more squarely aimed at the dance floor – albeit one where everyone’s on some wacked-out slo-mo trip or other.  Rest assured, though, they will still be dancing, it’s just their moves might more closely resemble that of a crowd at a Heart gig circa 1985, or a modern-day power-ballads convention (it’s no joke, these things actually exist!).  It’s no surprise that Com Truise has already been commissioned to remix dance behemoths Daft Punk as well as Palomo’s aforementioned project.  If you desire a more complete dose of retro-fetishising, here are some sensual visual accompaniments to album tracks Glawio and VHS Sex.  Ghostly International does it again.
