It’s amazing what a good holiday, a bit of sunshine and some decent R&R can do for your head living on this miserable island of ours. After a fortnight away, I enjoyed creating this set 100% at NeW IDoLs a couple of Wednesdays back and I think it turned out well too.
It’s very much on a ‘slo-mo’ tip, to use the parlance of our times for a warm-up/bar vibe (i.e. it’s all around 80 – 100 bpm).

Part II moves up a few gears (albeit in no big rush, maintaing the groove) – via more old faves: that classic re-edit of 6th Borough Project’s, a killer rmx of SMD from Heartbreak, a krautrock obscurity re-edited by Mooner, Maurice Fulton producing Kathy Diamond, Gwen Guthrie’s ace Seventh Heaven, a bit of classic Soul II Soul and then more NeW IDoLs: Natural Self on a Caribbean tip, Lunice giving Missy Elliot a proper re-rub for a new decade, some Moombahton from Nadastrom and Sabo, Mr Scruff on suitably wonky/wobbly form, a crafty Mulatu Astatke rework by SECT, Mr Oizo killing it as ever, Kelpe via the ace Svetlana Industries label, Trujilo remixed by Cosmic Kids, Arsenal remixd by Joakim and Azari & III remixed by 2011 breakthrough star, Nicholas Jaar.
