Here’s last week’s NeW IDoLs recording from 99 Hanover St in two parts.

I was back-to-back with DD for the night.  DD is resident at Compakt and produces his own music as part of The Set Up.

Part I runs the gamut through NeW IDoLs and old favourites in house, Italo, disco, electro and more, with new/recent cuts from Moodymann, Midland/Lone, Joakim/Todd Terje, Azealia Banks, Tensnake/Little Boots, Jamie XX, Four Tet and S.Chu alongside classics from Prince, Stevie Wonder, M&G, Fockewulf 190, New Order/Rockers Revenge/Greg Wilson, among others.

Track 1 is from DD, 2-11 from me and then 12-19 him again.

This second part starts off on an old skool R ‘n’ B tip, with Warren G and Janet Jackson, through more contemporary hip hop beats from Lady Daisey, Chiddy Bang and old Trouble favourites Vanishing System, a recent edit of a boogie classic i made with Leonidas, Kelis/Andre 3000, brand new Mr Oizo and Santigold/Switch, plus some ace South African ‘Shangaan Electro’ from the ace Honest Jon’s label… ¬†Tracks 1-10 are from me.

The rest is from DD, mashing it up further still, with dubstep, b-more, grime, jungle, dancehall, garage, house and techno styles, including Patrice Baumel’s smart mash-up of Smashing Pumpkins/James Holden, his own super-tight jungle rub of local rap legend Profisee and finishing with a particularly lush re-edit of LAX by Edinburgh’s own Mike Ford.

Hope you’re feeling it. Sounded great in 99. Shout back for a DL!
